The studio has commenced studies for a Paragraph 80 residence in North Lincolnshire. The seven-acre site is bounded on three sides by forestry, which the house looks out onto. The 1,400 sqm structure is a pre-fabricated, precision-engineered timber-framed dwelling containing significantly less carbon and embodied energy than the equivalent concrete or steel-framed construction techniques.
The facade and the cantilevered roof are designed to heat the dwelling using solar gain in the colder winter months and shade the facade during the warmer summer months while still filling the home with natural light. A ground source heat pump system fulfils additional heating requirements.
